Early Childhood Development Project in RBPOP Lead Schools of Lalitpur

The Early Childhood Development Project, implemented in 13 schools of Lalitpur commenced with a teacher training on 26 April 2018.

A well planned and implemented ECD program can provide great benefits to a child.  RBF is now focusing on developing an effective ECD program to be implemented in 13 schools of Lalitpur. RBF sees this as an opportunity to improve the way children learn in the early years, thus making learning much more effective and bring about a positive impact on children’s capabilities. Research has shown that investment in the early years brings the most returns, which then tapers down as children get older.

Activities have been planned for a year, starting April 2018 until April 2019. A total of 60 volunteers were trained to oversee the ECD in schools, for ten days, while teachers sat for the ten day workshop conducted in RBF. The teachers after being trained have returned back to their schools and volunteers have received certificates for their contribution.

The next set of ECD trainings took place on 17 and 18 June 2018 and on 16 and 18 July 2018. The learning from the previous sessions were revisited during the two day training and subject specific trainings were provided to make classroom interesting and fun for both teachers and students.

RBF  trainers then with the lead trainer Kalpana Parajuli visited schools and set up classrooms there.  The endline survey for the project is expected to take place during last week of March 2019.

The closing for the year ECD program took place on 6 May 2019 in Kamal Mani Theatre. Teachers received certificates from Chief Guest Khaga Raj Baral, Secretary of MOEST.
